John Atwell

JOHN ATWELL is amongst a select group of Australian theatre organists who have achieved international recognition. He has developed a reputation for providing programs, whether in concert or on recordings, which are carefully prepared to provide a variety of enjoyable music. His playing style reflects the diversity of his musical experience. John has taken his talents overseas on several occasions, playing performances in the USA, Canada, the United Kingdom and New Zealand.

John’s musical activities have not been limited to theatre organs. He is an experienced classical organist and pianist, having played for the ‘All Stops Out’ series on the Melbourne Town Hall organ, ‘Music for the People’ at the Myer Music Bowl and Melbourne Town Hall, and ‘Carols by Candlelight’.

John is one of the house organists at the Melbourne Regent Theatre, home of the 4/36 Wurlitzer organ formerly installed in the Paramount Theatre, San Francisco.

Mathew Loeser

MATHEW LOESER has been studying both electronic and theatre organ for approximately 13 years and in this time has achieved great success. In 1999 Mathew won the junior Theatre Organist Category of the ROTOSA Youth Music Scholarships after coming runner up in 1997 and 1998. He has appeared in concerts at the Theatre Organ Society of Aust. National Easter Conventions held in Adelaide in 1998, 2003 and in Sydney in 2000, as well as playing regularly for Theatre Organ Society club-nights and concerts at the Capri Theatre and the Electronic Organ Club of South Australia.

In August 2001, Mathew won the junior Theatre Organ Section of the American Theatre Organ Society's Young Organists Competition and as a result travelled to Indianapolis in the USA to perform at their annual convention.

Mathew has made concert appearances showing great diversity in the realm of piano and vocal solos. His enthusiasm for this is such that he hopes to further his knowledge of singing, and make it a far greater part of his performing career.

492 and 494 from Rockdale Station and Kingsgrove Station.

Exit station on to Beamish Street, turn left to traffic lights, cross Beamish Street to the opposite corner (hotel). Turn left and walk down to the Orion Centre on your right.

Free parking is accessed from Shakespeare Street via Clissold Parade from Beamish Street or Brighton Avenue.
